Readable Blog Post URLs, Sitemaps and RSS Feeds

Blog posts now have readable addresses, and every blog publishes a sitemap and an RSS feed. This release also makes the post editor more dependable.

On your blog:

  • Readable post URLs. A post's address is now built from its title, for example /post/our-spring-launch, instead of a long number. Existing posts were given addresses automatically, and old links keep working.
  • Sitemap, feed and robots.txt. Each blog serves /sitemap.xml, /feed.xml (also /rss.xml) and /robots.txt, so search engines and feed readers can find your posts.
  • Correct canonical URLs. Posts now tell search engines their real public address.
  • Blog widget links. Posts shown in the embedded blog widget link to the right page, and excerpts show as clean text.

In the editor:

  • New posts start as drafts unless you choose otherwise.
  • A category you type is saved even if you don't press Enter.
  • The word count is accurate.
  • A post needs a title and content before it can be published.
  • Saving a new post keeps you in the editor on that post.
  • Clearer messages when a blog or post no longer exists.

Security. During a review of the platform we identified some security gaps and fixed them. No action is needed on your side.
